– 2009 Literacy Minnesota Report In view of these barriers to the success of children, Diversified community Technology Center has implemented a program called “Empowering Children Through Computer-Aided Reading.” With this program, children will learn Math, Science, Reading and other subjects in their homes by means of interactive computer educational software. The educational level of parents is the biggest influence on the educational outcomes of their children. Parents with more education read to their children, help them with homework, and communicate effectively with teachers, helping build better K-12 outcomes. A recent survey by a suburban Twin Cities program indicated that 77% of adult learners in their district have minor children living at home, with each family averaging 2.4 children.
